ABOUT COMIIC





We are pleased to announce that the 7th Commercialization, Innovation and i-IDeA Competition (ComiiC 2025) will be held on 9th to 11th September 2025.  

ComiiC is a platform for students to deliver their innovative ideas which may have the potential to be commercialized and contribute to the development of the nation. The main aim of the competition is to train students' confidence in conveying their research and innovative ideas to both professional and general audience.

RULES & REGULATIONS

Competition Format
The competition consists of two(2) stages:

Stage 1: Video Submission

  • Each team must submit a pre-recorded pitching video.Duration: Maximum of 5 minutes.
  • Language: Malay or English.
  • Pitchers: Maximum 2 pitchers per team.
  • There is no presentation aids (slides, animations, or visuals) are allowed in the pitching video.
  • Submission: Submit the video through the official platform/link provided by the organizer.
  • The top teams will be selected by judges to proceed to Stage 2.

Stage 2: Live Online Pitching (Final Round)
Only selected teams from Stage 1 will pitch live in front of a panel of judges.

  • PRESENTATION METHODS: Live (Online Pitch) via official video conferencing platform.
  • LANGUAGE: Pitchers may use Malay or English during the pitch.
  • PITCHER: Maximum 2 pitchers per team.
  • TIME ALLOCATION: 10 minutes per team (7 minutes pitch + 3 minutes Q&A)
  • Live Pitching Session: 7 minutes, First bell (1 ring): Notification at minute 5, and Second bell (2 rings): End of pitching at minute 7
  • Q&A Session: 3 minutes, First bell (1 ring): Notification at minute 2, Second bell (2 rings): End of Q&A at minute 3
  • PRESENTATION AIDS: Not allowed during live pitching. This includes notes, paper, tablets, slides, videos, or physical products.

Any violation will result in deduction of marks.
THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES ARE FINAL AND NO DISPUTES OR APPEALS WILL BE ENTERTAINED

PARTICIPANT GUIDELINES

All entries must comply with the following guidelines:

  1. Payment fee is not negotiable.

  2. Once the registration has been accepted, the participant is obliged to pay the total amount of fee.

  3. The group who WITHDRAWS their participation after the last registration date must pay the whole amount of the invoiced fee.

  4. The following exhibits are not accepted for this competition:

    • A pitch which is a duplication of others.

    • A pitch which may provoke public’s sensitivity or may contain values that are in contrary to moral and public health and welfare.

    • A pitch which may be a subject matter of any Intellectual Property (IP) disputes or contentions.

  5. The entry form (together with abstract) should be submitted to i-IDeA 2025 organizers before the deadline. (Any extension of registration date will be updated in this website).

  6. Once the entry form has been accepted and the registration is confirmed by the committee, the group is obliged to pay the total amount of fees within the allocated timeframe. Please refer to i-IDeA 2025 website for further details on payment method.

  7. All details or files submitted in the entry form (including abstract) are accepted as they are. The i-IDeA 2025 organizers will not be responsible for any errors in the translation or wording of descriptions published in the programme book or in the e-proceedings (if any).

  8. The organizers will also not be responsible for any loss, theft, damage (due to fire or other causes) or personal injury suffered during or after the exhibition or in transit.

  9. The participants should further agree to release and acquit the organizers for all actions, causes of actions, claims or damages of whatever kind, including the negligence of the organizers arising out of participation in this program.

  10. The decisions of the panel of judges for the competition are final. The panel of judges or the members or the organizers are not liable in respect of any matters which arise from or connected to the results or conduct in organizing the competition.

    Idea Initiation: Concise, specific and measurable
  2. Solution to the Problem
    Usefulness in solving the problem: Is the idea substantial and meaningful in life? Does it solve
    any problem?
  3. Planning Structure & Creativity 
    • Flow of ideas: Easy to understand, especially to any layman. Ability to demonstrate
      the idea clearly.
    • Energetic/enthusiastic in delivering the presentation
  4. Knowledge impact
    Does the inventor/innovator/designer know what he/she is doing: Can he/she share his/her
    knowledge with others?
  5. Contribution to the Community and/or Country
    Does the solution contribute to the community and/or country?
  6. Cost Impact
    Cost involved is reasonable.
  7. Commercialization Potential
    • Set a new trend or potential for a new market
    • Increase interest in a new trend/ market
    • Expand an existing trend/ market

The payment made will not be refunded for any participation withdrawal/cancellation.
